Glenforest's Knopf loves what he does
OVERWHELMING ENTHUSIASM. THAT is what powers Will Knopf through marathon days as athletics director and coach of Glenforest School’s boys and girls basketball teams.
Knopf, who has been molding the private school’s small athletics program since it began 14 years ago, said believing in the program’s mission makes the 12-16 hour days more pleasure than work.

West Columbia, SC. – Young readers and dog lovers looking forward to a whimsical literary adventure with man’s best friend are up for a delicious treat with the release of a new children’s picture book by Melinda Hartsook. Claire Finds Her Direction (Paperback $ ; Xlibris Publishing), set to hit bookstores this week, is the almost true story of a real St. Bernard puppy who set out to see the world – and wound up as a four-legged furry teacher at the Glenforest School in West Columbia, SC.
Most puppies know what they want – and it’s usually a farm, a child to play with, or a house with a cozy fireplace. But not all puppies are so sure, and certainly not Claire, a precocious young St. Bernard. What she wants is to see the world, and she embarks on a grand sight-seeing expedition. Claire is dazzled by the attractions she sees – the pyramids of Egypt, the Taj Mahal of India, and the sparkling rivers of South Carolina, USA. Still, Claire feels something is missing from her life and wanders aimlessly in gloom – until she stumbles into the playgrounds of Glenforest School! In this wonderful place of fun, colors, learning activities, and bright, friendly children, Claire finally finds a place where she wants to spend the rest of her life!
In Claire Finds Her Direction, Hartsook’s lighthearted narrative combines beautifully with the spellbinding artworks of Susan Lee, Emily Everett, and Lauren Dropla in conveying a lesson-filled story that children and parents will truly love. This book is also available online at Xlibris.com.
