Glenforest is a school where everyone who wants to participate in a sport can find a place. Each student usually has an athletic skill that can make a difference on one of our teams. The experience most children have in larger schools of wanting to participate, but being excluded, doesn't happen at Glenforest.
Glenforest is not a large school, but we field excellent basketball, soccer, baseball and volleyball teams. At the conclusion of the 1997-98 basketball season, our Boys Varsity Basketball team was the state I-A champions! We also field teams in track and field, cross country, tennis, and golf. Glenforest has an outstanding Athletic Facility with Weight room and other up-to-date equipment.
At Glenforest any student who wants to play a sport gets the chance to do so. Here students often participate in sports for the first time in their life-and they love it! And then a remarkable thing happens--students actually see their academic abilities improve as they participate in sports! At Glenforest self-commitment and dedication determine participation. We call our teams "The Bulldogs" because fierce tenacity is the value they learn to live by. "Refuse To Lose" is the school motto and when opposing schools see the Glenforest Bulldogs pull up in their sports bus, they know they are in for keen competition.
And no one is more enthusiastic than our cheerleaders--unless it's the parents themselves cheering the teams on! Most parents want to be involved in the active Glenforest Bulldog Booster Club.
The sporting events are fun for the whole family and the feeling of confidence, pleasure, and support the students derive from the well-rounded athletic program is tremendous.
Please see the non-athletic projects undertaken by our athletic teams.
