Reasons to Give

Why is Glenforest School asking for your support you might ask?  What would you give to see a child grow, and be filled with new ideas?  Would you give of your time, perhaps your resources?

Many of our donors recognize that we reach area families who are unable to afford all the costs associated with rearing children who have a learning difference.  These costs include specialized doctors, additional learning requirements and all this on top of providing for a child and some families have multiple children with learning differences.  Over 200 families toured Glenforest in 2009-2010, and a common response shared with us regarding their reason for not enrolling is due to finances.

Here is one quote we received following a tour: “Hello, I am so sorry.  I will not be able to attend [Glenforest].  …I will be unable to get finances in order to enroll my son”  (mom).

The commitment many have made in partnership with our School Board is to see all students regardless of race, creed, or financial capacity be served through our educational mission found in the halls of Glenforest. Our teacher to student ratio is one of the financial reasons we charge a higher tuition, yet our teachers who are also in partnership with the educational mission receive less than 25% of what a state teacher is paid in respective years of teaching.  Truly our teachers, our families, our School Board, and our donors have seen the mission of Glenforest School reaching the young hearts and minds of boys and girls that enroll with Glenforest.  Our students find success academically, and socially because our teachers create an environment of compassion in the classroom and challenge the students in a manner that each student can respond positively too increasing self-esteem and confidence for more difficult tasks.
