The Glenforest School of Columbia, South Carolina admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school administered programs.
Our vision is to serve each student who attends here no matter what their learning difference(s). We are confident in the Glenforest “Turn Around Plan” for each child. As well every child has a thorough MAPS Assessment in order to provide each child a student-specific educational “map” for math, reading, and writing to move forward strengthening their foundation for life-long learning. For example, one parent was quoted as saying after meeting with us,
” …thank you so much for meeting with me yesterday. I felt I was nearing my rope’s end with some issues that effect **** at home and at school. I do think our new plan on studying will help him become a healthier and happier young man. At least our home life should be calmer, which will be a blessing to me! All I can say is that we love the Glenforest environment and the faculty’s dedication to the special children who attend. We are very fortunate and understand what a great opportunity this is for us. This weekend will give us time to discuss the changes he can expect and how these small adjustments will improve his life in general. This is a great start. You made me feel part of the GF family yesterday and I truly appreciate it.”
We trust this statement will help you know our mission and want to be a part of Glenforest so please begin this Admission process by:
1. Visit Campus for meeting with Administration
2. Submit Admissions Application. Please include:
- 3 Student References (Ex: Community leaders, Teachers, Neighbors)
- Possible reports from speech or other auxiliary services
- Academic Work samples
- Current IEP (Individualized Educational Program), if relevant
3. Your child will be invited to visit for a day in the classroom to be with teachers and current students. This allows your child a chance to experience Glenforest. It also helps us to see if we are a good fit as well. Glenforest is a small school. We know that not every child fits here at Glenforest. We keep this in mind as we look to see the Academic and Social compatibility of your student and this is why our past experiences for more than 28 years, have made each student who leaves here successful in many ways. In fact, our Alumni continue to return year after year sighting “Glenforest saved my life”.
4. So after your child’s visit, we will consider if your child’s needs can be met at Glenforest. Please know each step we take is to better assist you and your student’s well being.
